Basketball Net

When you need to buy a basketball net, let’s face it: it is about as exciting as buying a pair of socks. You don’t have to spend a lot of time worrying about it because it is not something that you really have to replace all that often. But there are some things that you have to consider before you buy one so that you don’t get the wrong net for the right hoop.

First, where is the basketball hoop located? Is it inside a nice air conditioned gym or is it outside at some local park? Is the climate hot all year round or will it rain and snow in the winter? Will it be used constantly or only every now and then? Once you answer those questions you should know what kind of basketball net you should buy.

Types Of Basketball Net

100% Nylon Traditional Net – This is the most common type of net. It is typically all weather and is suitable for about any situation and court. You can’t really go wrong with this standard net and best of all it is usually around $10 or less. It should last a couple of seasons with normal use. Heavy duty nylon nets are also available for a few more bucks.

Baskeyball Net100% Nylon Strap Net – Also made out of nylon, this net has flat straps instead of the usual small ropes. It should last longer but it attaches with hooks not the usual way. Plus it costs two or three times as much as a traditional net.

Steel Chain Net – A light weight or heavy duty steel chain basketball net is usually ideal for a park that will see a lot of use. They’ll stand up to the weather pretty well and longer than a nylon net. It does cost a little more, usually around $15 and up, but you won’t have to replace it as often. One drawback is that if you can dunk you could cut yourself on the chains – but for most of us that is not a problem! Basketball Net

Vinyl Coated Cable Net – This is a relatively new kind of net. It is a steel cable coated in vinyl so it is protected from the weather and should last a long time. It shouldn’t shrink, tangle, rot, rust or fray like chain or nylon net. It does cost a little more than the others but will last the longest. Usually it is about $20 and up.

Buy The Right Basketball Net

So once you know what conditions the basketball net will be in make the decision to buy the best net that you can afford for that situation. A basketball rebound net may even be the best thing to buy. But whatever it is, get the game going and start lighting it up. Most importantly have fun and don’t forget to make a few shots!
